History
1. Phones have become increasingly popular since its invention in 1870 by Alexander Graham Bell. Since then, the phones have evolved from very primitive devices for portable wireless devices that almost everyone in America depends in one way or another.
The evolution of mobile has managed to stay in touch with friends and family easy for Americans and people from other countries, too. Doing business changed with the invention of the telephone and telecommunications continues to change and continue to evolve.

2. The extension will operate out of a common telephone number, as is the case in most workplaces. The same is true of some houses, too. Extensions of the telephone line can run to different rooms of a house, allowing residents to connect phones and talking on the phone in the kitchen, living room, study or bedroom. Some people even run extension lines to their garage so they can hear the phone if they are working out.

3. Telephone extensions have become a significant part of the business world. Working out a common telephone number allows companies to have a phone number with a bill, but at the same time allow the business of creating multiple lines in the building.
Phone line extensions can also be configured in companies that allow users have their own phone number, however, be connected to the business’ main phone line. For example, when receiving calls, some extensions are connected so that the first call should go through a receptionist who then transfers the call to the appropriate line. Other extensions are configured so that the caller or you can call the receptionist and ask to be transferred, or dial directly the number of bypass and the receptionist.

4. The number of extensions that a company has usually depends on your needs and how many employees they have. Each employee usually has its own extension number. The phone number is the same for all employees of that particular business, unless the system is configured to individually assign each extension of their own number.
Loads of long-distance tracking can be difficult if the line is configured to go through a receptionist. Normally in these cases, no long distance code security for dialing a long distance, so there really is no way of knowing who did it call.
If a company has been created with the extensions that have their own phone number, it is easier to track long distance calls because the bills are usually detailed, according to the phone number. In these cases, typically the user must have a long distance code, to mark, making the monitoring of long distance charges easier.
Misconceptions
5. Phones fact that a household has multiple does not mean that the home is capable of handling more than one call simultaneously. People often have more than one telephone outlet and over a telephone line capable of handling calls, however, because these lines are connected to the same phone number, unless the owner has call waiting, only a call at a time can be taken.
When a person tries to call a number that is in use, will receive a busy signal unless the call waiting is in place. If your phone has call waiting on it, then the caller will hear the dial tone until the user takes the second line.
Call waiting is not a safer way to ensure that callers are able to cross, however. If another caller is trying to make a call to a number with call waiting and you already have two people in line, the so-called third will receive a busy signal.
